CASE STUDY 1:
Ulladulla Harbour Foreshore - Shoalhaven City Council

Greg Lamont Constructions undertook the redevelopment of Ulladulla Harbour Foreshore for Shoalhaven City Council. This project consisted of a new modern public amenities building made from rendered and painted brickwork, the construction of patterned, coloured concrete viewing platform overlooking the harbour foreshore.
GLC also developed new undulating concrete footpaths and walkways through the harbour parkland and concrete rendered stairs and a staircase fitted with evening directional lighting and tactiles to prevent acts of vandalism.

The creation of turfed terraced landings and fully landscaped environment provide utilisation of the harbour foreshore frontage and new facilities.
During construction it was imperative that Greg Lamont Constructions maintain safe public access to the existing toilets, harbour foreshore and surrounding businesses. To achieve this GLC worked with nearby shop owners to provide effective solutions to reducing noise and dust ensuring there was minimum disturbance to the operation of their businesses.
To gain completion of the works Greg Lamont Constructions demolished the existing amenities & turfed the area to new gradients.

Administration Refurbishment - Eurobodalla Shire Council

Greg Lamont Constructions constructed new elevated galvanised checker plate steel stairs and new concrete footpaths to an existing demountable building.
Refurbishment, joinery and fit out works within the main administration building were required to be completed within a limited window of time prior to the Christmas break. The office was fully operational during the works and Greg Lamont Constructions were required to implement effective noise controls and dust capture methods to ensure a safe and ambient workplace was maintained for all employees.

During the refurbishment healthy and open working relationships were maintained through awareness and understanding of customers requirements to ensure smooth operation and minimum disruption.

CASE STUDY 1:
Renovation / Addition of Residential Home - Kangaroo Valley

This architecturally designed home incorporates both contemporary features and heritage construction. While matching new to old can sometimes be a difficult task, with this home it has been achieved with overall success.
From the existing structure you look down a long wide passage where you immediately notice the natural light cascading through concept designed cedar louvered windows that line the hall. As you proceed down the passage you gain easy access to bedrooms, bathroom, garage & Loggia. The laundry has been cleverly concealed behind custom designed bi-fold doors which enables the passage area to be utilised as part of the laundry.
While all floors have ceramic tiles, the under tile heating creates a warm, cosy feel while being very economical. The flush lines of floors, walls & ceilings certainly give this home a modern feel which is carried through to the huge garage.
The property is elevated, allowing you look through designed cedar windows with slatted cedar screens to give a filtered but amazing view of the beautiful valley landscape. The bathroom looks out over the patio constructed of a unique pergola over stone pavers. From the south west the home is dominated by the cedar cladding broken up by black aluminium strips to highlight the natural colour of timber matched with the light Colourbond roof line.
While the plan was basically a concept a huge amount of design was left to the builder Greg Lamont Constructions. The competent staff redesigned, designed & constructed as situations arose, this also included input from the owners to achieve a beautiful & successful outcome.

CASE STUDY 2:
New Architecturally Designed Home - Currarong

The design of a holiday house often reflects the owners’ life style and aspirations more closely than a permanent home. On this small suburban plot at the edge of the village, apart from the functional requirements, the main requirements for the house design was to create a feeling of spaciousness, blur the boundary between inside and outside, allow for internal and external privacy from adjacent properties and direct views away from adjacent buildings to the bush (and ocean) beyond.
The home is simple and robust, with polished concrete flooring, set and painted plasterboard walls and ceilings, and large clear anodised aluminium windows and doors. The joinery is built into the walls and finished in similar colour to the walls to ensure the focus is on the spacial form rather than materials.

The main volume is a 2-storey barn like extrusion with 45 degree roofing, all clad in vertical corrugated metal deck. To enforce the shape of this ‘extrusion’ the gutters do not extend to the end of the building. The house contains a double volume living space, large fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom and upper level bedroom platform.
To achieve this spacial arrangement, without horizontal bracing, steel portal frames are set into to 150 thick walls which continue 600 beyond the external walls to direct the view towards the bush. The glazing in the house is deliberately oriented to take advantage of the views of the bush to the rear and into the external courtyard. The side boundary fences and walls are tall with extensive pergolas to create private external rooms rather than left over spaces.
All rainwater is diverted to the rainwater tank in charged line, which provides water for toilets and watering of the vegetable and fruit garden making this both a functional and environmentally sound dwelling.

CASE STUDY 3:
Construction of 3 Modern Units - Vincentia

A contemporary design using latest technology in floor & wall systems, the effective combination of colorbond custom orb, mini orb & weathertex with the streamline roof design complements this very modern structure. The architectural finishes including Stormtech slit grates, frameless screens combined with modern Tapware & sleek finishes.
The kitchens are functionally designed & fitted with ultra modern appliances which combined with the complementing ground finishes creates a truly beautiful beach package.

CASE STUDY 1:
HMAS Albatross - Asbestos Removal & Remediation Project

The purpose of this project was to remove bonded asbestos from various locations at HMAS Albatross and replace with a suitable cladding.
Greg Lamont Constructions commenced the job in January 2008 and completed the project in September 2009. During this time GLC removed just over 2500m2 of bonded asbestos from various locations on base. In total GLC removed asbestos from 32 buildings which ranged from three story accommodation blocks, two story office buildings and towers. Through excellent communication and consultation GLC was able to remove asbestos from these buildings while they were still occupied. To prevent future maintenance GLC installed ColourBond steel instead of fibrous cement sheeting on the external cladding and eaves. On three of the accommodation blocks bonded asbestos was removed under windows and GLC replaced the removed materials with half hour fire rated insulation. The use of this product upgraded the buildings acoustics, fire rating and general appearance.

To complete these works GLC was required to hold current bonded asbestos removal licences in NSW and ACT and ensure all staff on site were fully certified bonded asbestos removers and/or bonded asbestos supervisors. As part of Defence requirements air monitoring was undertaken during all removal works and clearance certificates were supplied by a certified hygienist upon completion of works. GLC was required to ensure that at least 24 hours notice was given to Shoalhaven Waste Depot before the delivery of asbestos contaminated waste to their waste sites. All documents pertaining to the removal of asbestos during the project, including air monitoring, clearance certificates and waste dockets, were kept on file and included in the project handover folder.

CASE STUDY 1:
HMAS Creswell Dining Galley Refurbishment - Department of Defence

Before construction took place, a temporary dining hall was placed close to existing galley for the navy to continue their day to day function.
After GLC setup the construction zone, a dilapidation report was carried out, using the laser level to capture the heights from all items suspended from walls to ensure all items are relocate into their original positions. All electrical items and pictures were removed from site and stored appropriately while construction took place. Prior any internal lining boards being remove a colour code was conducted by the painter to ensure all painting matches existing. Throughout the project GLC referred back to photos from the dilapidation report to ensure all timber installed matched existing.
All works were inspected and approved by a qualified engineer.
UPGRADE SUBFLOOR
• Cut access panels through timber floor boards to gain access to subfloor
• Prop subfloor structure and remove old concrete post supporting bearers
• Excavate soil and pump concrete under building for blob footings
• Install brick piers with ant capping to the underside of bearers
• New bearers were installed as per engineers details
UPGRADE WALLS and CEILING
• Remove all internal lining boards from walls to gain access to timber studs
• Upgrade existing timber walls using 90 x 45 HDW timber and fasten next to existing stud walls
• Where timber could not be used steel post and beams were used to support over head structures
• Install new sheet bracing to stud walls
• Prior any internal lining boars being erected, all new internal timber lining boards were enveloped sealed
• (Painted on all four sides)
• To match existing GLC used local resources to find Tasmania oak internal lining boards
• All architraves and skirting were milled to match existing
• Referring back to dilapidation reports and the colour code all timber work was painted to match existing
